Dog Food
Whenever you think about the dog food, you should take care of many things like vitamins, fats, oil etc. Now a day’s dog food is available by many ways like commercially manufactured dog food, health food stores provides ingredients, or totally home made meal. For good dog diet many recommendations are available. For healthy diet of dog, a best ratio is 50% veggies, 40% meat, 10% grain or carbohydrate. So it is better to provide food to your dog.
The Real food is cooked or raw food. The experts are disagree with this but it is really good food. But people don’t have that much time and interest to make home made food.
The best diet for normal dog is meat-based and specially chicken is the main ingredient I personally recommend because chicken based food taken by many dog are really healthy dogs. But it should not be all the time because meat gives high phosphorous but minimum calcium so too much food is not good for long time. Imbalance of phosphorous and calcium shows a health disaster in dogs. As well as Vitamin E and C are good for the dogs.
Grain diet is also long term energy source and energy storage for dogs. It is a cheap food with good protein percentage. Be shore your grain food should contain fiber, vitamins and minerals. Some best grains are barley, rolled oats, millet, brown rice and quinoa. This food is good for cats also. In a stores dog food are available in dry format also in wet format packed in cans. Dry food contains maximum 10% moisture while canned food contains 78%. But many people prefer dry food because of low price and easiness. It will left out good for long days while canned food will tasteless after several hours. Canned food contains good quantity of protein and fat as compare to dry food.
Dry food also known as Kibble, It can be made by baking or extrusion. The vitamins, proteins and fats are sprayed on dry material. This vitamins, proteins and fats be vanished if dry food uncovered in the contact of air for long time or at the time of cooking due to heat.
So chose best ingredients and make dog food at least twice in a week. If you give dry food to your dog then try half dry food with half quantity of meat like canned fish. Also you can add ground turkey or beef chunks or hamburger. Use some ground up veggies, some milk or raw eggs. A ground eggshell has good quantity calcium.
As a supplementary dog food, add some fish oil or salmon oil. Because it is a good source of Omega-3 which is healthy for your dog’s heart nervous system. In addition some vitamin E will be effective for the dogs.
